How to reach us

In our research group, we are working at the interface between physics and computer science. Our main interests are investigating complex systems from solid state physics, theoretical computer science and molecular biology by means of computer simulations.

We are mainly applying higly sophisticated optimization algorithms, which were partly developed in computer science during the last decade. But we are also inventing new algorithms and improving existing ones in our group. Furthermore, we apply other methods like Monte Carlo algorithms and Molecular Dynamics.

The research group is headed by Dr. Alexander Hartmann. It is located at the Institute for Theoretical physics at the University of Göttingen. The group is funded by the Volkswagenstiftung within their program "Junior Research Groups at Universities". The fund consists of the positions for the head of the group, one Post-Doc and two PhD students. Additional funding is provided by the German Science Foundation.
